MISDIRECTION
Lola sat sipping her cappuccino, Brooke had just left to return to work. Lola had a long weekend, since Travis had just left on vacation and had given her the rest of the day off. She sighed noticing the slight chill in the air. Fall was here and the leaves were painted in glorious colors. She glanced out at the passing cars, the outdoor patio would be closing soon, and it would be to cold to enjoy dinning. Lola was missing Ezra; he was working on a case undercover over four months. She longed to walk in the park with him, holding his hand and taking in the fall colors. Maybe if she went home for a visit she wouldn't miss him so much, it would take her mind off it. She half grinned, knowing that was a lie. Didn't matter what she did she'd still miss him. Letting a sigh escaped she glanced at the waiter to bring her a fresh drink and dessert. 'Might as well enjoy the outdoors before the snows starts flying.'
The loud sound of a motorcycle roaring by captured her attention for only a moment, as the man backed into a parking spot. She glanced up again to watch as he slowly removed his leather riding gloves and tucked them into side zipper pocket on his black leather jacket, swinging his leg over the bike to stand at the curb, he removed his flamed helmet. Black shoulder length hair fell around his shoulders, reaching into his leather jacket inside pocket he pulled out a pair of black wrap around sunglasses putting them on, he placed the helmet on the seat of his bike then strolled into the café.
Lola watched as he walked into the café, he looked damn sexy, now she knew she was missing her man for sure. Drooling over strangers, Lola glanced up at the sun, enjoying what little heat it offered, and then pulled her book from her bag. Opening it, she settled back to enjoy what was left of the day.
The biker carried out a large espresso, and local paper. He propped his legs up on the chair opposite him. Flipping open the paper to sports section.
Lola glanced up to see him stretch out, 'wonder if I could get Ezra into a pair of tight leather pants.' she chewed the corner of her lip, then glanced back down to her book, pushing her lustful thoughts of Ezra away. Her mind was still on what sat across from her. Tight leather pants, muscular form showed from the black t-shirt, she could make out under all that leather, and the goatee that was neatly trimmed she wondered if it was soft, and just what was hidden behind those sunglasses. Lola licked her lips as she read, not grasping a word on the page.
A shadow cast over Lola, she looked up from her book, into the face of the biker. She blinked then half smiled; glad he couldn't read her earlier lustful thoughts.
"Don't mean to intrude into your reading time," he grinned " I'm new in town, could you direct me to a hotel in the area?"
Lola marked her page then closed her book, "Well I um ... " she glanced around finding she was the only other person sitting out on the patio. " There's a few within walking distance, just depends on how much you're wanting to pay. I mean they are rather expensive; they're on this street if you take it west out of town that’s more reasonable in rates. Just depends on what you're looking for." She noted how deep his voice seemed, but there was something lyrical about it.
"A soft bed, and a safe place to park 'flame' my bike. Been on the road for few days."
"Well then I'd just take this street down two lights and turn right, then down two streets turn left, then follow the curve around, it will be on the right side. That hotel is the closest and has underground parking garage."
"Thank you, he nodded. " returning to his table to pick up his newspaper and toss his cup away.
Lola placed her book into her bag, glancing at her watch. She had just enough time to walk to the corner and catch the bus, and head home for a long soak. She opted to let Brooke keep the car to drive home from work. She walked past the biker as he placed his paper into his saddlebags.
Sitting on the bench her thoughts returned to Ezra, was he safe, the guys had said this was going to be a difficult case for him and Buck. Though they couldn't share any details, she worried. Glancing at her watch again she wondered where the bus was, it seemed to be running later than usual.
A loud roar of a bike pulling up at the curb brought her out of her thoughts. "Miss, could you give me those directions again, I can't seem to find the hotel. I think I turned right when it should have been left." He said turning off the bike.
Lola smiled at the helmeted biker and gave the directions again, "Perhaps I should give you directions to a different hotel?"
"I believe armed with your directions I can find it. Besides if I can't get around the construction, I'll just head out of town for the other hotel."
Lola closed her eyes she had forgotten about the road construction. "I'm so sorry I forgot all about the construction and detours. " she explained the directions again. "Sorry, Didn't mean to get you into that mess."
"Thanks for the help. " she watched as he started his bike and pulled away, wondering if he had a nice smile to go with that voice.
Ten minutes later, the biker returned. "God I hope I didn't get you lost again." Lola sighed.
He shook his head, "No, just that the street is closed on your new directions. All these one way streets seem to keep leading me back to you." He smiled, but the helmet hid it.
"I'm so sorry, " she glanced at her watch, 'where was that bus'.
"Could I possibly ask you to direct me again? Or perhaps I could offer you a ride, since it seems your bus is running late?" He removed his helmet, and let his sunglasses slide down his nose. "I promise I would be a gentleman."
Lola glanced up at the man, and blinked several times. Those green eyes… that voice,
"E... um. Is that you?" Standing she moved closer to the biker, she couldn't believe it.
Patting himself with both hands on his shoulders, "Seems to be me, " he grinned cockily.
A large grin grew on Lola's face, "Let me show you how to find the hotel." Lola placed her bag on her shoulder, and climbed on behind the biker. She tucked her skirt in around her legs then wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.
"I do believe you know the way." she rested her head against his back, content to be holding him, though her thoughts of playing with his long hair and goatee, made her smile wickedly.
Placing his helmet back on he started the bike, turning it so they were heading west into the sunset, toward a condo and a long night of loving and making up for lost time…
